Zig Zag

Zig Zag
by: Xara Nahara O’Connor

I exist in a maze
Full of zig zags
Circling in on themselves
I always move forward
I cannot stand still
I cannot stand standing still
I cannot stand not moving forward
Constant roadblocks in my mind
Constant roadblocks in my way
To a seemingly straight path to success
Constant invisible or visible roadblocks
Constant blocks
Circling on themselves in zig zag patterns
Zig zag patterns that send my mind in several directions
Moving forward
To create
To destroy
To burn away all of those hellish memories
That return like the phoenix
Zigzagging their way in my daily life
No escape,
In my zig zag patterns I move in in my mind
Nothing is in a straight line

I envy people that have their path paved for them
I am not so lucky
And in a maze full of wonder and amazement
So many discoveries here
So many things I want to share with the world,
Perhaps making it better
Perhaps I can produce results in my haphazard zig zag patterns
Results that are more fruitful than those derived from straight paths
Results that lead to better paths in zig zag patterns
Zig Zag is all I know about myself when my mind races and finds clarity

My muse endlessly leads me down zig zag patterns
Ones I wish I could write,
But physically I am incapable
My mind a false prophet, my mind a false poet
If I could physically never sleep and never eat and never have obligations
Then I swear that I would write in endless zig zag patterns that move forward

(Thank God for physical limitations, or books upon books upon books would be filled with my zig zag writings, most of them of shit quality. Thank God that I have a very busy day job that keeps me from boring everyone on the Internet with my dribbles that my muse constantly shares. I see one thing and my mind jumps from one thing to another to another and another and THE MADNESS!)

I am a graduate of the University of Mount Union. I work for ResCare HomeCare as a direct support professional. I was a psychology major and am hoping to get a master's degree in Business Administration with a concentration on healthcare... Somewhere. I am still interested in English and theatre. Writing had always been one of my passions until recently. It takes too much time and effort, which is why I just draw comics now. Believe it or not, drawing comics is easier for me to express myself than writing. I also love animals. When I am not working hard on whatever project I happen to have my hands on, I am at home playing with my animals. I live with two cats named Garfield and Oreo. I also love to listen to all kinds of music, such as The Birthday Massacre, Emilie Autumn, The Cruxshadows, The Cranberries, Celldweller, Emperor, R.E.M., Future Funk Squad, Symphony X, Einherjer, Borknagar, and Nightwish. And I'm married. But don't tell the government. They suck the fun out of it.
